We had a great day out to Art in Action yesterday.
We couldn’t have picked a better day for weather – it was glorious and made such a difference to our pleasure.
Sadly my phone died on me and I was unable to take any photographs as I had planned. Luckily Ceri was on the ball and has forwarded some great pics – especially of the wonderful gardens at Waterperry.
There was a lot to see – In the textile tent there was a young woman called Harriet Riddell who was stitching portraits “while you wait”.
I particularly liked the Illustration and Lettering Arts tent – with Simon Sonsino who creates wonderful pieces based on lettering, but not calligraphy as you might expect it. There were several stands demonstrating the art of paper cut outs – some quite extraordinary. Sarah Morpeth is worth looking up.
There was printmaking in all forms; glass and glass-blowing; painting (I liked the work of Este Macleod); metalwork (from jewellery to some fascinating creations by Lisa Wisdom using decaying corrugated iron sheeting; ceramics; shoemaking; music and performing arts etc. etc. I will have left a lot out.
Nature in Art was there and several people got back onto the coach clutching a plant or two!
There were also lots of places to eat and drink (including a Pimms Tent) and the sun was shining…..
