We’ve had a great response from members who have made blocks to be made into a banner for the exhibition. Below is a picture of the ones received so far.
Exhibition banner
We would like to make two Bristol Quilters Exhibition Banners to celebrate our 40th birthday. It will be displayed at Quiltfest 2020. We would like each member to make one 6½ inch block in red and white. You can use any technique you like. Please complete and hand in your block by the September meeting or earlier if you can. Please make sure that you put a paper label on the back with your name. We will be quilting the banners with red, white and pearl buttons so please could members donate a few and bring them with your completed block. Below are photos of some blocks to give you a few ideas. Thank you on behalf of Bristol Quilters Exhibition Committee
At our April meeting members voted for which charity they wish to support at our next exhibition. The winner of the votes was Home Start. Information on Home Start is below.
HOME START BRISTOL – support and friendship for families
Home-Start Bristol is an independent registered charity that supports struggling families, with at least one child under five, living in Bristol and South Gloucestershire. They offer a lifeline to families with young children going through difficult times. Their mission is to provide tailored support to struggling families with young children, enabling them to develop strategies to cope with current and future difficulties. Parent volunteers, trained and supported by our professional staff team, visit families at home, working with them to build confidence and resilience, and to develop a sense of belonging to their local community. A small team recruits and trains local volunteers, and then carefully matches them with local families who need support. The scheme is managed by a board of volunteer trustees and is responsible for raising all its own funds. We are funded by local authority grants and grant making trusts enabling us to provide this service at no cost to families.
