In view of the Government announcement regarding coronavirus and reducing non essential social gatherings, the workshop with Alicia Merritt has been cancelled
Workshops are initially offered to members and if not full a few weeks before the workshop date then places will be offered outside the group.
Below are details of the workshops running for 2020
Thursday 7 May Alicia Merritt Workshop – Imagining Maps
Maps and map-making are as old as civilisation and as contemporary as satellite navigation. We use maps in our daily lives, and we are fascinated by views from above. In this workshop we will explore the world of maps and aerial views, and play with colour, line and shape. Each participant will construct a small fabric map using improvisational cutting and stitching, pieced fine lines, and a little fused appliqué. Quilting will need to be finished at home. Sewing machines and irons required.
Tuesday 1 September Wendy Dolan Workshop – In The Meadow
Inspired by the meadow flowers project in my book ‘Layer, Paint and Stitch’ you will layer and machine stitch natural fabrics and trimmings. This textured background will be painted and then worked into with freehand machine embroidery creating a meadow of flowers. All levels of ability
If you click on the link below, you will get to the workshop booking form.
Sorcha Torrens is our 2020 Programme Secretary. Email the form to her (details on the form) and she will confirm whether there is space available. You can then pay direct into the BQ account (details on the form) which is our preference if possible to save a trek to the bank to pay in cheques, or hand the completed form and cheque to Sorcha. If you pay direct, please confirm to Sorcha that you have done so.
Please note – a booking form must be completed and given/sent to Sorcha. She will then email a workshop requirements list.
The BQ Thursday morning half day quilting has now moved to Henbury and Brentry Community Centre, Machin Road BS10 7HG and we have space for up to 12 quilters. Currently we all bring own own work and either hand or machine sew. We exchange ideas and patterns and help each other. All are welcome – even beginners – who will get help and ideas from the others.
Ruth has booked the following dates up to the end of the year 10 am till 2pm
The dates for the half day workshops in 2020 are listed below
April 23 – after Easter
Any Bristol quilter is welcome to come to these sessions. With Quiltfest in May it is a good meeting at which to sew bags for the tombola. Ruth has several patterns, all you need to bring is a sewing machine and fabric. You could also bring your own patterns to share.
The cost is £5 per session. Please email Ruth to let her know you will be attending. firstname.lastname@example.org
